3 Signs You Need a Line Editor
Line editing is something many new, indie authors don’t think about. Most of the ones I run into don’t even know the service exists. While a line editor is a great asset to any manuscript, there are some times when their expert touch can make all the difference between an ‘okay’ book and an ‘awesome’ book.
What Does a Line Editor Do?
A line editor is tasked with making sure your sentences and phrases are clear and effective. This could mean correcting mixed metaphors, speeding up or slowing down the pacing, repairing odd wording, and even removing lines that you’ve been beating your reader over the head with.
But how do you know if you need a line editor? If any of the following three characteristics apply to you, getting a line editor for your work is probably a good idea.
1. You Struggle with Verbal Articulation
If people are consistently asking you to rephrase what you’ve said or explain what you meant when you made a comment, it’s likely that your struggles with clarity will end up on the printed page as well.
