“Self-Revisions”
The process of doing self-revisions consists of three steps that you can repeat as often as you like.
1. Taking a break from your piece by physically and mentally busying yourself in other ways for a preset amount of time (a week, a month, etc.).
2. Returning to your manuscript and reading it from beginning to end, making notes on your desired changes as you go.
3. Revising the piece based on the notes you left for yourself when you read it.
You don’t need a professional editor to help you with any of these steps. So, at this point, you don’t have to concern yourself with finding and hiring a professional. That comes later.
